Assessing how the heart adapts to pulmonary hypertension

The aim of the study is to investigate how the heart changes in response to pulmonary hypertension (elevated blood pressure in the lungs).

What it involves:

Patients having an operation (pulmonary endarterectomy) to remove scarred blood clots in their lungs will be approached to take part in the trial prior to their operation.  Assessment of their heart function will be made before and after the operation.

The study has been reviewed and authorised by the Research Ethics Committee: Cambridge East.
