Patient information and entertainment will take leap forward at new Royal Papworth Hospital

Royal Papworth Hospital’s ICT team has announced more details of the new patient engagement/multimedia system that will operate at new Royal Papworth Hospital.

The team is working with UK-leading specialists in healthcare IT and media, Parity Medical and Exterity, to provide a system that will enhance the patient experience and revolutionise how the hospital communicates through multimedia.

Among the highlights will be free-to-view Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) for every patient. As well as enjoying up to 100 TV and radio channels completely free of charge, patients will also be able to access a host of additional information ranging from ‘who’s who’ on the ward to daily menus. Each television can be controlled individually, offering the potential to send bespoke information such as exercise regimes to patients.

Digital signage/information screens will be installed in waiting areas - and throughout the hospital - to enable more effective communication between patients, visitors and staff, and the hospital will also have the ability to record and distribute video content securely, internally and externally - including videos of seminars and training material.
