Patients requiring invasive cardiology procedures such as balloon angioplasty/stent, and treatments for rhythm can also be offered day case care in this unit.

We have currently 71 members of staff including are admin and clerical staff. All staff are trained and assessed according to their role and the patients we care for. We work closely with the multi disciplinary team to try to ensure all the needs of our patients are met. Quality is of high importance to all on Mallard. We audit our care/work, and are participating in the releasing time to care initiative. Results are displayed on the ward for patients, visitors and staff to see. We have no mixed-sex bays.

Visiting times are 2.15pm - 5.30pm and 6.30pm - 8.00pm. Visiting outside these hours should be discussed with the nurse in charge prior to visiting. Two visitors per patient at one time and visitors chairs to be used please, not foot stools, beds or patient chairs. There is a day room situated next to bay G, which has a vending machine for drinks and snacks. Mobile phones are not permitted for use on the ward.
