Matthew replaces Maura Screaton who is retiring after a 40-year career in nursing, which has spanned Ireland, England, Australia and Canada.

A former respiratory nurse consultant, Matthew has more than 25 years of experience in the NHS.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Royal Papworth Hospital and I can’t wait to arrive and start meeting people soon.

“I take great pride in being a nurse and the difference the profession makes to people’s lives every day, often in their most vulnerable moments.

“When I am not at work, I spend my time quality time with my young daughter, walking my sausage dog, socialising with friends, and spinning!”
