As a patient, relative or carer sometimes you may need on-the-spot help, advice and information or someone to act on your behalf. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) comes in.

PALS provides confidential advice and support, helping you to sort out any concerns you may have about the care we provide and guiding you through the different services available from the NHS.

The service aims to:

  • Advise and support patients, their families and carers.
  • Provide information on NHS services.
  • Listen to your concerns, suggestions or queries.
  • Help sort out problems quickly on your behalf.

The team act independently when handling patient and family concerns, liaising with staff, managers and, where appropriate, relevant organisations, to negotiate immediate or prompt solutions.

If necessary, the team can also refer patients and families to specific local or national-based support agencies.

Opening hours:

Located on the ground floor of the hospital, the PALS office is open to walk-ins from 09:00-13:00, Monday to Friday.

From 13:00-15:30, Monday to Friday, visiting the PALS office is by appointment only.

Enquiries via phone or email are welcomed throughout the working day (09:00-15:00).
