4 June 2025

In April 2025, Royal Papworth staff sent 329 Laudits to celebrate the everyday extraordinary achievements of their colleagues.

Our award-winning positive incident reporting platform, Laudit, allows our people to send positive feedback to one another in just a few simple clicks.

Every member of staff who receives a Laudit is automatically entered into a monthly draw and five winners are selected at random.

Our April winners were Bimal Bernad, Charlotte French, Eduardo Rocha, Jasvir Parmar and Philip Abraham.

Charlotte's worked at Royal Papworth for nearly four years and is a team lead occupational therapist. She was sent a Laudit by a colleague who recently graduated from university for being a patient and supportive supervisor.

Congratulations Charlotte, is this the first time you've received a Laudit?

“No, I’ve received them in the past and I try to make the effort to send them to people who I feel should be recognised for their hard work.”

What do you like most about working at Royal Papworth?

“I feel like the hospital looks after and values its staff. I feel I have good job satisfaction and love the team I work in.”

What motivates you?

“Working with amazing patients and their families through what must be a very difficult time in their lives and seeing them progress in their rehabilitation journey is very rewarding.”

Which of our values is most important to you?

“I resonate most with compassion. Everything we do with colleagues, patients and their relatives should always begin with compassion. This helps build trust and ultimately leads to better outcomes for all.”

Eduardo Rocha joined Royal Papworth in 2015 and is deputy charge nurse on our respiratory medicine ward. He was recognised for demonstrating compassion, kindness and attention to detail.

Congratulations Eduardo, how does it feel to be a Laudit winner?

“Despite not being the reason for giving my best every day, it feels good having my efforts recognised by my colleagues.”

What do you like most about working at Royal Papworth?

“I feel a special environment everywhere I go in this hospital unlike any other hospital I’ve been. Patient feedback we get on a daily basis is proof of that.”

What motivates you?

“Seeing people who are ill coming to their last days of admission feeling so much better, before returning to their lives.”

Which of our values is most important to you?

“Despite all being important, the compassion I feel we have towards our patients, as a whole big team, is what makes our patients feel privileged to be treated at Royal Papworth.”

Philip joined Royal Papworth in 2014 and is senior equality, diversity and inclusion compliance and assurance manager. He received a Laudit from the co-chairs of our Disability and Difference and Working Carers Network for his support in organising an event. “It feels incredibly humbling and very special. I’m deeply honoured to receive this recognition.”

Congratulations Bimal, how does it feel to be a Laudit winner?

It feels rewarding, I feel seen and appreciated for my efforts.”

What do you like most about working at Royal Papworth?

“The people and how they are all friendly and stay positive through all their struggles. It's a supportive and nurturing environment.”

What motivates you?

“Knowing that the work I do helps others. In an IT support role, especially within a healthcare environment, every issue I resolve helps colleagues to continue delivering vital services without interruption. I find real purpose in being part of something bigger than myself, ensuring systems run smoothly so that patient care remains the priority. I’m also driven by problem solving, there’s great satisfaction in troubleshooting a complex issue and seeing it through to resolution.”

Which of our values is most important to you?

“While all three values are essential, compassion resonates most deeply with me, especially in a healthcare setting. In my experience, compassion is the foundation that supports both excellence and collaboration. Whether I’m helping a colleague resolve a technical issue or supporting a clinician under pressure, I always strive to approach every interaction with empathy, patience, and understanding. Technology can be frustrating, especially in high-stakes environments, and showing compassion not only eases stress but also builds trust. I believe that when people feel genuinely supported, they perform better and work more effectively as a team. For me, compassion isn’t just about kindness, it’s about creating a culture where people feel valued and empowered to do their best work.”

Jasvir Parmar, a consultant in thoracic medicine, was sent a Laudit for being an excellent appraiser and demonstrating empathy, wisdom and compassion.
